The sending of French aircraft to retrieve small Haitians being adopted was greeted Sunday by the group representing the families, who criticized the management of the former foreign minister Bernard Kouchner accused of having neglected children’s safety.

Following the announcement by the Quai d’Orsay to the dispatch of two aircraft, the chairperson of the Haiti SOS children adopted Emma Guerry deeply regretted that Mr. Kouchner has not taken the initiative earlier controversy qualified of “disastrous” by the firm.

“This evacuation is called for since the day after the earthquake” that struck the island on January 12, recalled Ms. Guerry on Europe 1. “Mr. Kouchner preferred when the earthquake struck, argue the legal security of children, rather than their security short.”

With the arrival of Mrs. Alliot-Marie, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, “it was quite otherwise, we welcome it, thank you,” continued the president of the collective.

Mr. Kouchner, who had repeatedly warned against child trafficking, for his part, refused to enter a “disastrous controversy.” He stressed that it acted in accordance with the procedures, noting that since the quake, about 700 children were adopted arrived in France.

“Frankly, open a controversy that, I refuse. We did everything we could,” he told AFP on Sunday.

“We acted in accordance with the biological parents, because they exist in respect of the international procedure and with respect to the adoption legally accepted in Haiti and the French statute,” he argues.

In total, a thousand Haitian children were being adopted before the earthquake. The 318 children expected next week enjoyed a Haitian adoption decision but lacked passports. An exceptional pass consular has been provided to enter France.

The collective SOS Haiti adopted children had attacked several times in the policy of Mr. Kouchner in this matter as early as February.

“It was possible to quickly bring these children, since at the time of the earthquake all the other countries who had children awaiting adoption have reached an agreement with Haiti and brought in six weeks that followed children “, says Guerry.

“France has chosen to do things differently, the political decision of Mr. Kouchner left six children dead in Haiti, so yes I’m serious,” she said.

The group had already stigmatized Friday Kouchner, stressing that “at least six of the 1,100 children adopted before the earthquake lost their lives during these 11 months.”

“I do not know what she’s talking,” responded Mr. Kouchner, recalling that “in appalling conditions there are many children who die.”

Since its emergence in mid-October, the epidemic of cholera has killed more than 2,000 deaths in Haiti, already ravaged by the earthquake of January (over 250,000 dead). The disputed results of presidential elections on 28 November resulted in violent demonstrations then in the country.

In March, the death of a small Haitian three years, waiting to join a French family, had revived the accusations against the French authorities, taxed rigidity in the management of adoptions.
