Also Belgium is Supporting EU Adoption Resolution

Adoptie in de EU: het recht op een familieleven voor kinderen.

Adoptie en zelfs internationale adoptie moet worden aangemoedigd om weeskinderen of verlaten kinderen een thuis te geven. Een resolutie hierover werd woensdag in het Europese Parlement goedgekeurd.

De nadruk ligt op het vermijden van een lang verblijf in weeshuizen. Adoptie of pleegzorg zou voornamelijk moeten plaatsvinden in het land van herkomst maar indien dit niet mogelijk is, moet er in een ander land een geschikte familie worden gezocht.
Lidstaten moeten zich ook bewust worden van de psychologische, emotionele, fysieke en sociale implicaties door het weghalen van een kind uit zijn oorspronkelijke omgeving. De resolutie stelt daarom voor om begeleiding aan te bieden aan adoptieouders.

After the Netherlands and also many other countries within the EU the Flemish Agency VLEVA is also selling EU adoptions under the mantra of get the children out of institutions. But as no one is asking how these children end up in the so called orphanages also Vleva is not making clear why these children do end up in these institutions.

The UAI is wondering, why these kind of agencies are supporting so firmly the resolution without creating openings for adoptees to discuss their still denies access to birth records and asstistance finding their (first) parents. No one is asking attention for these issues. If adoption would be in the real interest of children than rights for adoptees should be also implemented. But looking at the history of adoptee rights, which is quite isolated and deminished by the adoption community as a whole, the interest end by getting the children for those who have (most times) none.
