DUTCH ADOPTION AGENCY NAS LOBBIES FOR REOPENING HAITI

Nevertheless the Dutch government halted the adoptions from Haiti, the (prospective) adoption parents and the fastest growing adoption agency NAS pushing for reopening Haiti for adoption.

The UAI warned media and others in the adoption-chain the pressure of the (inter)national lobby of (prospective) adoption parents who are pushing harder and harder to get the children they want. Pointing to other European countries and the US who, after the Netherlands started the  Haitian 'Babylift'  campaign, who are continuing uncontrolled adoptions to get children from Haiti.

The UAI is urging the Dutch government to keep the 'embargo' on the Haitian adoptions, supported by adult Haitian Adoptees within in the Netherlands. The earlier international statement on Haiti, published by Adoptees of Color Roundtable has been send out again to make the public aware that not everyone is joining the statement of adoption agency NAS.
